Personal project encompassing brand creation that put the fun into function and added style to reusable bags during a time when they were just gaining in popularity.
MissTree began as Bagavond, my brain child in 2008, living in Bozeman, MT where reusable bags were not yet a thing. I screen printed my illustrations onto upcycled materials and sewed these gems with love, combining the old with the new.
In 2011, I took the opportunity to use the contacts I gained through an internship with the Seattle company, Spacecraft Collective, and traveled to Bali, Indonesia to learn about the production process. Through this process I met local artists who I collaborated with for the print work and other small, family-owned businesses who helped with the sewing and finishing.
In the end, I returned to Washington and decided to keep the production on a local scale. The experience was worth every rupiah (Indonesian currency) and every minute spent commuting on a 50cc motorbike through the busy capital city of Denpasar.
